This is how I usually see bushtits . . . flitting in big groups amongst brush and trees foraging for seeds. These tiny birds are only about 4.5 inches long, including the tails!

I was watching bushtits in a tree and it sounded as if they had moved on when I spotted this youngster alone and seemingly left behind on a branch. I was worried it might be sick, it was hard to tell if it was taking a little nap or ill. Finally one of its siblings came back. Moments later someone parked their car nearby and the little bushtit awoke, stretched, and seemed okay.
